What travels well, and what doesn't

Worth knowing before you build a list. This is about shelf life in transit, not about what we're willing to buy:

TypeTravels
Dry barfi, chivda, namkeen, soan papdi, chakaliVery well
Kaju katli, pedha, dry ladooWell
Khawa-based sweets, mawa modakTime-sensitive — tell us the date you need them
Anything with fresh cream, or syrup-soakedAsk first
Fresher than you'd think, but plan the date. Sweets are bought the week the box ships rather than held in stock. If they're for a specific occasion, tell us the date and we'll work backwards from it.

Don't ship snacks on their own

The most useful thing we can tell you, and it costs us an order to say it.

Couriers price a box on its size as much as its weight. Chivda, farsan, bhujia and wafers weigh almost nothing but are mostly air and can't be compressed — so a box of them is billed as though it were heavy. Ten dollars of snacks can genuinely cost seventy dollars to ship.

Pair them with something worth its space. A saree, a piece of jewellery, an instrument, a stitched outfit — something small and valuable that justifies the freight on its own. The box was going to be that size regardless, so the sweets and namkeen ride along for very little. Why volume beats weight →

Dense sweets — barfi, pedha, ladoo — are far better behaved than snack packets, because they pack tight. If you are ordering food alone, weight it towards those.
