Terms of Service
Last updated 7 September 2026. These terms apply when you ask BazaarBuddy to shop for you. Plain English on purpose — if something here is unclear, ask us before you order rather than after.
1. What BazaarBuddy is
BazaarBuddy is a personal shopping service, not a shop. You tell us what you want; a person in India goes to the shop, photographs what is actually on the shelf, buys it on your instruction, and we consolidate and ship it to you.
We do not hold stock, and we are not the manufacturer or the retailer. We act as your buying agent. The goods are whatever the shop sells, at the shop's own price.
2. Quotes and prices
- Nothing is bought until you have received a quote and accepted it.
- We do not mark up the goods. What the shop charges is what appears on your quotation. Our charges are for the service, shipping and handling, and are shown to you before you pay.
- Shipping is priced on the size and weight of the finished box, so it cannot be calculated until we know what is in it. This is why we quote in conversation.
- Quotes are valid for a limited period and may be re-issued if shop prices, availability or freight rates change before you accept.
3. Payment
- Payment is due when you accept your quote. We buy nothing before then.
- We accept credit and debit cards and bank transfer (ACH). Zelle is available to customers who have ordered with us before.
- Card and bank surcharges, where they apply, are shown on your quote before you pay.
- Card and bank payments are processed directly by Stripe. BazaarBuddy never sees or stores your card or bank account details.
- Where an item is priced on request — a made-to-measure garment, or a piece chosen live with you at the shop — you pay an agreed estimate upfront and the final amount is adjusted, up or down, once the item is selected.
4. Substitutions and availability
Many of the shops we buy from are small and do not hold predictable stock. If something is unavailable, or is not what you expected once photographed, your shopper will tell you and propose an alternative for your approval. If the price changes, the quote and payment are adjusted before purchase.
5. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel at no charge at any time before you accept a quote and pay. Once an item has been purchased on your behalf, all sales are final. The reasons, and what damage protection does cover, are set out in full on the refunds and damage protection page, which forms part of these terms.
6. Shipping, customs and duty
- Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. The earliest we can source, consolidate and ship is around four working days after payment; total delivery usually runs 6 to 20 working days depending on destination and priority.
- Customs duty and clearance charges are yours to pay, billed directly by the courier, separately from us. They vary by country and by product category. We never hold this money and cannot waive or refund it.
- Customs authorities may open, delay, seize or refuse a parcel. We cannot control this and are not liable for it beyond the damage protection cap.
- You are responsible for giving us a correct, complete delivery address.
7. What you may not ask us to buy
We cannot buy or ship anything prohibited by Indian export law or by the import rules of your country. This includes, among other things, currency, gold bullion, live plants and seeds, most perishables, weapons, and prescription medicines. If you ask for something restricted we will tell you and refund any amount paid for it.
8. Our responsibility, and its limits
We will source, inspect, pack and ship with reasonable care and skill, and we will keep you informed. We are responsible for doing that job properly.
We are not responsible for the quality, fitness or performance of goods made by third parties, for a shop's own pricing, for courier delay, for customs decisions, or for anything outside our reasonable control. Where damage protection applies, our total liability is capped at the declared value of the goods and the shipping.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Your account
Keep your login details to yourself. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. We may suspend an account used for fraud, abuse, or attempts to buy restricted goods.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here on the day you accept a quote, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed.
