Indian musical instruments, bought in Pune and shipped to you

Buying an instrument you can't play first is uncomfortable. Buying one online from eight thousand miles away, from a shop with no export experience, is worse. This is the alternative.

We buy from established Pune instrument shops. Every instrument is checked and tuned before it is packed, and shipped in a hard case where one exists.

Not listed doesn't mean not available

Tabla, dholak, bansuri, mridangam and pakhawaj aren't in the list above yet, but we source them to order. Send a photo, or tell us the scale you need, and we'll go and look.

The same applies to a specific maker or a specific tuning — that is the sort of request this service exists for.

Before you order: the honest bit about shipping

Instruments are the hardest category we ship, and it's worth saying so plainly.

US customs duty applies to every shipment now, calculated on the value of the goods — so on a ₹35,000 sitar it is a real number, billed to you separately by the courier. How duty is calculated →

How to ask

Tell us the instrument, the scale or size if you know it, your budget range, and whether you want a case. If you're buying for a student, say so — the sensible instrument is usually not the most expensive one, and the shops will say the same.
